Sharing a dorm room with Mafuyu should have been a real pain in the ass. But it wasn't. I was actually happy about it. But upset at the same time. Because sometimes, in the middle of the night, I would wake up to the sound of sobbing. I'd lie there, keeping my breathing even and pretending to be asleep. And I'd lie there, watching him, listening to him, begging myself to ask why he was crying.

Mafuyu is still grieving over his used-to-be boyfriend, but Ue here doesnt know this. Waking up to his dorm mate crying scares him and he only wants to make it better- but he's progressively making it worse.
