Joey Reid, the stoic co-captain of the baseball team has more interest in reading than forming any more friendships than he already has, at least, he didn't until a wrecking ball by the name of Sammy Diaz crashes into his life.

Sammy grew up with nothing but medical debt, his best friend, and his mom in his back corner, he finds that being unapoligetically himself pushes the most people away but for some reason, it doesn't work oh his history partner and co-captain.
