Description
'I thought this day couldn't possibly get any worse, yet here I am. Or should I say: here he is. He sees me, just as I do him. Even in the dim lighting, I can clearly make out the shape of his being. Tall, wide shoulders squaring out and enlarging his frame. He stands in the open, still and stoic, not an ounce of emotion radiating off his stance. I can feel his eyes on me, burning and burning my skin. They're all over me. But then my eyes focus. They focus on the shape hurled over his shoulder and the pair of arms hanging limply over his back. I watch him. I watch him so carefully. The way his hands move to the person on his shoulder and the way he dumps it into the lake without a care in the world for the noise that emits from the water when the corpse breaks the serenity of the surface, waves and ripples crawling all the way over to my side. Then, he stands there. Frozen and unmoving. I'm intrigued, so intrigued I'm shuffling from behind the tree and putting myself on full display for the man on the opposing side to me. The moonlight reflecting off the water hits his face, the shadows making his defined features seem softer in the dim lighting. It makes it harder to be afraid of him. The unknown man raises his hand, my body flinches backwards but when I realise what he's doing, I chuckle. Because he's waving. With his right hand up and his head cocked to the side, he simply waves. So in response, I do the only polite thing to do in this situation, and wave back. I'm not a complete monster, I know basic manners.' A twisted tale of romance and revenge between two killers with the same objectives.
