At first, the colony coexists with its ruler peacefully. That is, until the royal family of Overvelde, the Vandemarks, and anyone close to them are assassinated in cold blood. After 22-year-old Elaine Annesley lost her only sister in the violence, she dedicated the rest of her life to fighting the Roslinite occupation and joined the growing resistance. Seven years after the assassination, progress is slow -- but a new rumor that the last heir of the Vandemark family still lives might give the resistance, and the people of Overvelde, just the new bud of hope they've been looking for. When Elaine tracks him down, however, she discovers just one tiny problem. Claude Vandemark is a werewolf -- one of the most hated, feared creatures in Overvelde's culture -- and reversing such a curse won't be easy. Can Elaine and Claude figure out a way to fix a curse that has ailed Claude since birth and take back the crown? Or will their own people turn against them?
