Life's been nothing but crappy to Nevaeh. After rejection, her father's insults and bruises, her mother's departure from her life as well as the oh-so-many rumours and gossip around her, she's had enough. Literally. And decides her only escape from life itself is death. She's lived enough, she thinks. But she's in for a shock when she's rescued from her pool of blood and sweat and brought back to life. She isn't happy, in fact she's empty and resentful and feels like she's failed to even end her life. Life doesn't let her be though. Having to pretend that all is normal is stressful. Not only that but having to face all those that she would have left behind is in itself nerve-wrecking. Add a guy to her life as well. Ridge High's captain, Gabe seems to have an interest in Axehill's bad girl but she couldn't care less. He's wondered how he's never noticed her. Her love for soccer, her once-in-a-while but hundred-watt smile, her annoyance at him, her hate and total dislike for him. She's a grenade and when she blows she's sure to take people with her. Ending it all felt like the best idea, right? But slowly she starts to realise that she doesn't have to end her life for other people to live and have their own happy ever afters. She just has to live for herself. *** "Don't live for me. Or anyone at that," she turns to look at me and I grasp her fingers in mine. She immediately tries to pull away but her fingers are locked in mine "Live for yourself. Live for you." She freezes and stops trying to get her hand away and instead looks me right in the eye. Her expression, for the first time I have met her, softening.
