In December of nineteen seventy-eight, around Christmas, eighteen-year-old Judith Jefferson attempted suicide. Her parents, unaware of why she did, sent her to Red Cave for treatment, and in that immense institution of young and old patients, she learned to cope with her "melancholy." Now, she's heading home, and each page details the trauma experienced by those close to her.

This short story can be read as a stand-alone, but I'd recommend reading Moose and Goose for a better understanding of this one.
