Prologue: Too young, too old

There was nothing he could say to her. Because his friend was right, just like she usually was. They were young but the chances of them ever growing old were lower than just low. Maybe this would be the last time they'd see the sakura petals fall. Perhaps it was the last time he would see her alive.
They were just 19 years old. Someone could say they were young, too young to die.
"I guess we're not that young anymore, are we?"
Inside, it felt like they were old. Nearly too old to be alive.
