So do not ask them the Riddle of the Sphinx if you are in danger, for they will answer it too easily. An angry dragon may be pacified by a riddle challenge-accepting the outcome of the riddle contest. The old master riddlers often used to disguise their riddles as nursery rhymes, knowing that in this way they would be passed through the generations. In this book I have listed some riddles that may be in use in times of need. The rules are simple. Ask a riddle in turn until one of you cannot answer. The challenger goes first.
