Before Starting

In a world with magic present in a small percent of the country, 16 year-old Jake is forced to practice incantations to perfection. He has been beaten and starved since he was little and has never been away from the house without his father. When Jake suddenly finds a way to escape from his father, what will he decide to do? Where will he go? How will he survive?
