CHAPTER 1, There was a boy and a man

Caspian, Lucien and Ally are three orphans in different parts of the world. Capsian is adopted and lives in the middle of the Australian desert listening to whale song. Lucien is a living weapon for his US family but doesn't mind as long as they're loyal, and Ally's body lies in a hospital bed while I mind explores elsewhere.
All three have their own lives and drives and yet they end up at the same University in Canada. Who are they? Do they have a strange purpose or is the world just a strange place?
