When Tony met Stephen Strange after the breakup of the Avengers, he thought that he was able to finally live without any complications and just coming to peace with himself and what has happened. Even though his physical scars have started to heal, the damage of his soul and heart slowly start to show themselves.
When he finally opened up to his loved one, he didn't know that Stephen would become a raging fire, burning everyone who has harmed him, even if it meant to turn the planet into ash and swearing destruction to the man who has Tony hurt most.
