What if Icicle had succeeded in killing Starflight that day? What if he had died? Would life be any different?
When Starflight dies, he can still see his friends, but they can't see him. He watches as life goes on without him. It hurts him whenever he sees them grieving for him. But he knows that he must be strong and hope that maybe his friends will too. He tries not to, but he can't stop himself from looking back.
