Chapter 1

N'Chalo is a princess of the Ofusa, the tribe that reveres the Mighty One. For her rite of passage N'Chalo will undertake a challenge, she must slay a beast of her god's choice; if she wins she will be a warrior, if she fails she will become a slave. She fears she'll face a Desert Hound, the same beast who killed her brother. Papa is King, he believes N'Chalo should have no fears as heir to the throne and tension rises between them. As N'Chalo prepares, moral challenges occur when she starts to question her tribes' customs.
