Y/N Zayas was a content but timid child, living in a small village in Panama until discovering that she was cursed to be followed by fire and flood. Her Abuela, with the best intentions, hears of a magical family one day while walking in the market and is convinced that they could help her cursed granddaughter. Together, the two embark on the long journey to Encanto in search of a remedy, only to discover that this curse isn't quite what it seems.

first chapter is prologue <3 very slow burn but i might get impatient while writing it lol

takes place after the movie so bruno gets to be happy :)

she/her pronouns are used for reader, because that's what i use and i feel like especially with this movie being set in colombia, it's important to represent girls of color as loveable. she/her pronouns are used for the same reason i wrote of the reader having dark skin and thick curly hair. because sometimes even in media set in our homes, latinas aren't represented in a kind way. reader also has major mommy issues.

inspired by @WDANDHPF 's Camilo Madrigal X Reader, i loved their idea of y/n having a gift but i tried a different interpretation <3
