Description
In a post-apocalyptic world with a shortage women, life is hard for the ones like Helena with no husband to protect them. Forced to live Outside or be trafficked, she spends her days hunting bounty hunters until she's captured and doomed to execution. Sergeant Ramsey has the luxury of living behind walls he once helped build, not that he has much choice now that he's too mentally ill to be cleared for full duty. Working in the abandoned underground prison of the military compound, Ramsey becomes increasingly isolated and strange, and it doesn't help that he's a seven foot tall giant best known for committing a massacre. When their paths cross, something wakes up inside Ramsey, and everything in him tells him to protect Helena, even though he can't. He knows just the place to hide Helena, deep in the underbelly of the compound, but if he really wants to save her from her countless enemies, he has to learn to navigate the complex world he abandoned, recover his repressed memories of what drove him mad and who exploited it, and reclaim his power before it's too late.
