When I turned to leave there was a pack of wolves emerging from the trees, one being a lot bigger than the rest. The Alpha. As soon as he came into view, my wold started stirring within me. The hair on the back of my neck stood up and the breath was knocked out of me. I watched in awe as he crossed through the field. I always wondered if the moon goddess had given me a mate. In the years I had been running I had never came in contact with him. The thought rarely crossed my mind, but when it did the loneliness I felt got worse. As I was about to turn to leave, his head snapped in my direction making me stop dead in my tracks. It felt like his eyes burned holes through me. He made long strides in my direction and eventually moved with impeccable speed, his body stopping only inches from mine. As he closed his eyes and took a deep inhale of the scent around him, my scent, he said the words I'd only ever heard in dreams. "Mate."
