'I can't accept your proposal.' She looked him dead in the eyes, her lips twitching, she gently bit on her inner cheeks, an obvious nervous habit of hers.

'Why? Why can't you accept my proposal? Is it because I've been bad?' He added as an afterthought.

'Not that.' Her eyeballs twirled around, searching for something else to focus on.

"Then why?" His voice sounded harsher than he intended.

"I'm carrying someone else child."
