Jamie and Sophie are orphaned when Jamie turned 18 and Sophie turned 12. Jamie is left to look after Sophie by himself, and when she goes missing, he calls the guardians for help by doing all he can, sending a letter to Santa, calling on the wind, staying awake, leaving a letter under his pillow, etc.
