Derek has discovered that he has a younger sister that his parents kept a secret from him. He sets out to find her and finds out she lives in a town called Mystic Falls, and she's friends with two vampires named Damon and Stefan Salvatore. He then is informed by the Salvatore brothers that she headed to another town to look for her brother.

She's a true alpha but doesn't know about her supernatural abilities yet... that is, until she gets to Beacon Hills. Her name is Gina and she is best friends with Stefan and Damon, but has feelings for Damon.
