After coming back from her book tour, Denise Houghton expects hugs and kisses, not dead bodies. When she finds the corpses of her mom and younger sister, her life turns upside down. As the days go by, more and more people start to grow suspicious of her. Things get more mysterious when the Brimington County Sheriff, Greg Sullivan, resigns from his job. In his opinion, with no evidence to prove it, Denise got away with two murders. When newly appointed Sheriff William Winston takes his place, he begs to differ; Denise had nothing to do with these murders. While working on the case, along with Detective Cody Mullen, Denise starts writing her next story. Not knowing what happens when a person goes without sleep, she decides to stay up for as long as possible. As hours turn to days, Denise Houghton's reality warps. Especially, when her dead mom and younger sister start making appearances. She no longer knows what's real and what's fake. Targeted and thrown into the mindset of nothing is as it seems, it's up to Sheriff Winston and Detective Mullen to put the pieces of the puzzle together.
