Introduction

Ruth Jackson has always been a quiet girl. She sits with the girls at lunch times and eats her food, listening to their gossip without adding to the conversations.

None of the boys had ever paid much attention to her, till recently she notices a pair of eyes on her, following her wherever she goes.

And then the new orphan girl comes to the small town of Avonlea, and Ruth finds herself despising Anne more than anything.
