It was the year 20XX. I was 15 at the time. The year where that damn Punishing Virus appeared and started corrupting robots and drove them into nothing but killing machines. Being a soldier's been in my family for four generations. It's in my DNA. Even so, my Grandpa didn't want me to join the Military. He lost faith of Babylonia the day my father died in a mission. It nearly broke me when the news reached me. My father was such a good man, and I loved him so much. He and Gramps were the only ones I've got left. My mother died when she gave birth to me, and I only saw her through pictures in my album. "Y'know, (Y/n)..." A voice called out to me. I paused the shooting game I was playing and looked at where the voice came from, which belongs to my Grandpa. He was also a former operator in Babylonia. I always like listening to his stories about fighting the Corrupted. "I wish you could see what it's like when everything's still normal." Gramps tossed a magazine over to me with an article. I picked it up. 'Humans are no longer be sent to Earth', it read. 'Androids will now replace humans and fight the Corrupted'. I clicked my tongue in annoyance. "Bullshit. I don't see anything good coming from that." I scoffed and handed the magazine to Gramps. I decided to go out of the room to ease my mind, and that's when I saw it. A prototype 'Construct', as they call it, being carried by engineers and maintenance crews. It wasn't much of an android, more like a trash can with limbs. "Laugh at it all you want, kid." Gramps said to me, approaching me with a look of sadness on his face. "But technology's always changing. If you don't keep up with it, it'll leave your ass behind." "I know that, Gramps. No need to remind me of that." I replied. I glanced at the 'Construct' once again in the distance, its figure slowly getting smaller over time.
