Chapter One: Puppets are Made for Games

Virgil always did what was expected of him. When he was expected to show up on time, he did. When he was told attend a court meeting, he did. And when his parents told him to marry King Roman and his husband Janus, Virgil did. It seemed the perfect opportunity. King Roman was beloved by the people, and a strong king, a worthy ally for Virgil's parents. But there's more to this castle than it seems. A loyal servant with a secret, a lover with a tragedy, a king with a curse, and a banished prince. Every secret is carefully kept, and the King alone knows all.
