There is no safe place for a teenager who lives on the streets, especially not for one like Theodora Corda.

Sevanteen, orphaned, homeless, and addicted to heroin, Theodora's life is not what it should be.

When she's accused of a murder she didn't commit, it just gets worse.

And when she, herself, is killed, she learns that neither God nor the Devil could see her in life. She was one of the few Shrouded humans. As such, neither God nor the Devil knows if she's guilty or innocent of the crime of murder, or what smaller sins she committed in life, and she is sent to Purgatory. The only way out is to prove her innocence.

The only problem is, she can't remember anything from her time among the living.
