"He looked at me with pain in his eyes and ice in his heart. He pleaded with one pale hand, held out to me and grasping like I was his life source.

"I guess it really is better to be feared than loved."
Eyes welling with tears, I could hear my heart shatter at my own words. My entire life stood in front of me, ridden with guilt and plagued by the constant thought of 'This is what I've been missing.'

And with my stomach in my throat and my whole being screaming to hold him and never let go, I dropped his hand and walked away."
