"Do you ever miss the things that are gone?" Dumb question, you think to yourself. How could you not miss the things that are gone? Like the pink and white blossoms mixing in your backyard when you were young, the porch swing your grandmother rocked you on, the piles of leaves you'd play in and the snow angels you'd make, the way you'd believed your parents were immortal and invincible and in love, and the way you'd believed that love was real and fairy tales did come true. Dumb question. But meaningful all the same. "Of course," you say, "Doesn't everyone?" and his eyes lock with yours. The air crackles, and then it begins.
