Wren said something, his grimace shrouded with guilt. Beck tore us inside, and I shoved Wren against the wall. "What did you do to her!?!" "I didn't DO anything! She's cornered up there!" Without warning, there were shouts up the stairs. We shot up them like they were nothing and saw at least three dozen- maybe four- men in a circle, closing in on somebody. Lore. "Well, these odds look unfair." "Shut up, girlie. You can't get any back-up up here." Wren pulled us behind one of the sofas just before one of the men looked our way. "Oh, I didn't mean me. There's what - fifty of you? Against me? Seems to me like you've been sent to your doom." The men closed in even more. I wanted to lunge at them, but I knew that'd make it worse. Lore sighed, looking disappointed. "Alright. You've twisted my arm." It all happened so quickly, almost like it was but a blur. First, her eyes started glowing a blinding white, and she pounced on the nearest man like a panther, tearing his throat out. Ten more men closed in and she swept their legs out from underneath them. The men hit the floor with a series of sickening cracks, and Lauren kept pouncing on the men until there were none left. She snapped her head up from her latest victim, staring right at me. And everything went black.
