The main character Alice has grown up in a house her whole life surrounded by a garden. With only a near fence keeping her in. Every Thursday a boy comes threw the other side of the French and tells her all the story's that have happend that day.

Alice is 8 in the beginning of the book.

Her unknown friend is 9.
