Rana is the adopted daughter of Zhao and a traitor to the Fire Nation following a realisation of how Zhao came to find her. Seeing the Fire Nation for what it truly is, Rana abandons it and heads off in search of the Avatar to see through her destiny to become the legendary True Elemental.
