The El'Rose family is one of the most ancient in London, rich and powerful as royalty.

The first daughter chose death. There was no mourning, and no funerals. The Trial allowed nothing but a farewell parting.

The second daughter ran. Her orange hair a blaze of fire behind her and the words "Bring forth blood" upon her lips.

The youngest has no idea what thorns can do, too pampered by water and rich soils to feel the tight vines squeezing and squelching the air, until one day.. her head is underwater and she can't come up for breath.
