After being captured by the diamonds, Rose quartz manages to escape. But something began to happen, Rose's gem split into two people. Rose, and her part-human son. She believes him to be dead however and leaves him in her garden, the place she left to rot.

But lucky for the boy, a heart-shaped gem found him.
