Avery Mee comes from a well financed family, so it's hard for people to believe her when she says her life is shit. Which is why she doesn't tell people that.

When her mother dies everything in Avery's life comes crashing down. A once happy young family turns into a broken dysfunctional mess and Avery has to pick up the pieces.

When she finds out their moving to a zoo she isn't that fond of the idea, but it turns out to be just the thing she needed.
