Description
Kathrine Elis, a young heiress, finds herself in quite the predicament. Kathrine is headstrong, wise, and elegant. As such, her father has chosen the best match for her, a wealthy young businessman by the name of Claude Lewis. Claude is smart, successful, and none too bad to look at. And yet, Kathrine can't help but feel that her betrothed is not the man she is meant to be with. She can only voice these concerns with her closest friends, Maggie and, of course, Cliff. While Maggie doesn't quite understand her friend's concerns, Cliff never seems to pass judgment. He listens carefully, never interrupting and always offering words of advice. Kathrine wouldn't have expected such wisdom from her stablehand, but Cliff has always surprised her. He's quiet, yet somehow always seems to shine. His humble life doesn't seem to bother him, and even when he has so little, he is always offering up little gifts. Kathrine begins to wonder what it is that makes him shine so brightly, in a world that is starting to feel very dark.
