Life-long pen-pals Kaleb and Marisol live in two very different kingdoms constantly at odds. While the monarchs play politics, the two sixteen-year-olds manage to maintain a relatively normal relationship while living relatively normal lives, worrying about relationships, family hardship, their futures, and whether or not either of them will be able to stay awake during magic theory class. However, trouble is brewing on the horizon and neither of them are immune. War breaks out between their lands. In the fighting, the two manage to continue writing to each other while dealing with the constant hardships the fighting brings. Marisol must move from her city and take shelter as country refugees while their own civil war trembles on the horizon. Kaleb grapples with family and faith when his father is drafted and his city is overrun by the enemy, bringing an eclectic cast of boarders into his home. He must decide where his loyalties lie: with his family, his country, a vigilante group trying to reclaim their city and their land, or his friend grappling with her own issues across the border. The question remains: will their relationship survive these trials and tribulations? Or perhaps the better question: will they? Updates once a week.
