In the past they were regarded as deities by angels and demons respectively and many wanted their powers for themselves since if you wielded them together you would have limitless power. But no one could wield it since angels couldn't handle the demonic powers of the hellfire and would be turned into demons and demons couldn't handle the Holy aura from storms and would die.
