"It's the fear and not the ghost that leaves me haunted"

Severus had mended his friendship with Lily and decided against joining the Death Eaters, setting him on an entirely different path than we see in canon. The story starts the morning following Lily's death and Harry is eventually placed in the care of Severus who is already in a relationship with the reader.
