My fingertips delicately traced the scars. I noticed how deep they were, chunks of his skin were missing. I half expected him to wince as I circled in the centre of them. They must be years old, I thought to myself. Hundreds of them, oval-shaped and snow-white, covered his back like a dalmatian's spots. his freckles danced between the scars that dominated most of his back. "What are you doing?" KIt rolled over, his voice thick with sleepiness. His sudden awakening startled me. "How did you get those?" I whispered. "Fire." He said simply. I glanced down at my own arm, where my burns were healing. They were now pink. I wondered if one day, I'd look like that too. Seventeen-year-old Lisa is kidnapped on her way home from work by a deranged father and presented to his brainwashed family as a wife for their eldest son, in the middle of nowhere surrounded by trees.
