Prologue

Immortality - the ability to remember memories of previous lives upon being reborn - isn't a boon, it's a curse of eternal suffering. This supposed evolution changes all the priorities and views about one's existence. It opens doors to wealth, power and happiness, things that are all obtainable in this heightened state, on the condition that another immortal doesn't exist. The presence of this older and more experienced soul throws normal processes into chaos, or is it chaos? What is this existence, what does immortality mean, what is the goal of the other immortal, and what is the soul portal?
