Saturn dealt with a lot growing up. Her mother died when she was 6 while in battle, and her father has hated witches ever sense. He showed that by treating Saturn like shit her whole life, and neglecting her as a child.
Saturn had never thought about becoming a soldier until the spree attacks started. She couldn't stand by knowing people were dying. So she did what she had to do.
