Chapter 1

Mildred Ratched x Carol Aird

Slight AU in which neither Gwen nor Therese exist and the events of Carol take place in 1947 (when Ratched is set).
Carol goes on the road trip alone and finds herself in Lucia where Mildred saves her from being interrogated by Louise when trying to book a room. The two quickly become close and Mildred is forced to confront a truth she has been hiding from her whole life.
