Racism is the prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against other people because they are of a different race or ethnicity. Black people all over the world have had a taste of racism. We are perceived to be barbaric and considered less humans. Our heritage severed, we never had the chance to experiment. As a young black girl, I've had my own fair share of racial injustice. As the only black girl in an all whites neighbourhood, I've had countless experiences with racial profiling and been a victim of racial stereotyping. But black is all I know there isn't a thing I'll change in it. I am certain I love being black. My name is Dana Sey and the story below is an account of the ordeal I went through as a young black girl living with white parents in a white neighbourhood.
