Pierce Angelo Moritz is deemed to have the perfect life as a Superior, whose mark of 'I' in his wrist an indelible reminder of the place he is meant to be; to belong in the caste of genetically manipulated children to become their parents' desired offsprings. Extremely intelligent, supremely good-looking, and plethorically athletic. However, beneath the skin of the teenage boy is a secret that could either kill him or cast him out the First Region: Pierce's genetic blueprint contains only one but crucial malfunction- he does not have any emotion. Hiraya Nanna Luwalhati Fermin is a byproduct of a failed laboratory test- the 'II' mark on her wrist says, with most of the kids her age with the same mark as hers tell her. They say that if they are stupid, Nanna is dumber two steps behind. She thinks if being casted as an Inferior is hell enough, how worse could it get being bullied from these Inferior kids. However, many may assume her extremely stupid, but she knows one or two things; her caste is hopeless, numerous failed attempts of the government's participation with genetic manipulation, and her father is hiding something from her. And whatever shenanigan this is, shouldn't be the price she has to pay for something that is none of her fault. They say curiosity kills the cat, and Pierce sure is dead when he takes the apple from the tree, violating her mother's decree. And to Nanna, romance with a boy outside her caste is her own murder.
