Y/N lives in a world where when you sleep you meet your soulmate. Everytime you wake back up, the dreams you have with them disappears and you can't remember them. If you meet them the red strings will connect because of a certant event for it to connect and the memories come back. If something bad happens to your soulmate, the red string will disconnect and all memories will be lost unless you find out where you did wrong.
