I, Avneet Kaur, am complicated. As I narrate to you this, I am dodging speed breakers on my yellow cycle with my all time bestie, Jannat Zubair on my back. Jaan hands me the last paper and I throw it off to the last house on the lane before dropping her off at hers. "Bye Avu, see you soon at college", and with that I watch her disappear into her house before I cycle off to mine. I park my bright yellow cycle in its little spot before trotting into my house only to be greeted by my mother's routine ranting- "Avneet Kaur, how many times have I told you not to deliver the morning papers! You're ruining this family's reputation! Are you listening-" But I just ignore her and run up to my room. That's my mom. My parents spent seven years building a reputation, starting a company and tutoring me to keep up the demeanor only for me to grow up longing to do the exact opposite. In college, I have a determined hater, Faisal Sheikh. We avoid each other in every way possible, but one day, circumstances change.
