Every young wolf is told of how amazing and special it is to find your mate. The other half of yourself, your opposite. No one told of the anguish and pain that crushes you when that mate is taken from you just moments after meeting them.

After Lyda is handed the alpha title from her father her pack is attacked by rogues. After realizing her mate is one of them she orders all pack members to leave him alone. What she soon found out was that one of the neighboring pack members that was visiting and joined the fight never got that message.
