Prologue

GREY'S ANATOMY AU: Colonel Dr. Meredith Grey has served the past seven years in the Navy and then Marines as a field surgeon. On her ninth deployment, in Iraq, there's an insurgent bombing. Critically injured, Meredith is flown to Seattle Grace Hospital for treatment from some of the top doctors in the country, more specifically, Dr. Derek Shepherd who just moved across the country after a rough divorce.
