In this AU there is a soulmate system. When you turn 16 you receive a ring with your soulmates birth stone. The band corresponds to your soulmates gender and on the inside of the band the date is inscribed. For insistence someone whose soulmate identifies as non-binary with a birthday on April third would receive a bronze ring with a diamond and inscribed 3. Female equals gold and male = silver.
