He chuckles and his eyes have a dark look that I can't quite make out. I narrow my eyes at him and he says,

"You've said that for the last 8 years Vivi."

Takes place during the Victorian Era. This was around the time when ladies did NOT have any power and were expected to be a housewife. They also had to be willing to do anything their husbands wanted and were expected to be married around the age of 22.
