The air between them was heavy. The only sound was Don's slow labored breathing. His feet were planted firmly on the floor as he tried to hide the tremble in his legs. His vision was dimming, but he could still make out the horrified expressions from across the room. He kept his face as neutral as he could, even as blood ran down his arm and began to drip from his fingers.

"I'm sorry." His legs couldn't support him any longer and he fell to his knees. He heard feet rushing towards him, but he let his eyes flutter closed. He always knew this would happen, he knew this was the way it would all end. He'd accepted that, but now all he felt was regret.
