Wei Shiao-shu has lived his whole life by the stars. He checks his horoscope app every day and visits his fortune teller at least once a month. During a year of terrible misfortune for anyone born in the Year of the Rat, he should be extra careful. What happens when well-meaning friends try to solve heartbreak with a night of dancing and alcohol instead of an evening of tears and checking star charts on his rooftop balcony? Open Novella Contest 2021 Prompt #85 "This prom is not my cup of tea. I would rather be up on my roof, watching the stars." ~But prom doesn't exist in Taiwan, and all characters are adults... so small change in that setting. *This is an original work, not a translated story. I plan to write the Mandarin chapters and have a fully bi-lingual book... someday. English version first for the contest :)
